A Study on the Structural Change of Employment and Labor-induced Effects Influencing the Growth of Korean Medical Appliances and Instruments Industry by the Input-Output Analysis

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to figure out the structural change of employment and main labor-induced factors influencing the growth of Korean Medical Appliances and Instruments Industry by using the employment input tables(Bank of Korea). The result of this analysis can be summarized as follows. First of all, the total number of employment, employees, and self-employees in the Korean Medical Appliances and Instruments has been increased since 1985. Moreover, its contribution of employment has been increasing since 1985, and that of employees has been lager since 1985. Second, while the induced number of employment by the Final Demand in this industry has a increasing trend, most of them has been induced by the Export and Investment Demand. Third, the induced-coefficient of employment has been sharply decreasing until 2000, but remains stable since 2005. In order to create the Korean Medical Appliances and Instruments industry¡¯s sustainable employment, We should promote the direct and indirect-related service industries with the this industry. Especially, it is required to develop and promote the producers-support related-service industries including main export-driven manufacturing industries, simultaneously.
